Women grow up in the spot. We always need to look like this, we always need to be like that. And there are some moments in a woman's life where she cannot see herself in the mirror anymore. For me, that happened after becoming a mother, and it keeps happening from time to time as I age. Because our bodies are not supposed to change, because we are not supposed to age, right?
But this painting is not a pitiful one. It talks ultimately about resilience, about overcoming that moment of seeing a stranger in the mirror. 'Who's this' is part of a collection called Foreigner and it is a very personal painting. Yet, I think that you might recognize yourself with her.
