'Descent to green is a deeply personal painting. The idea came from a moment of deep psychological pain, and it carries comparison to others, feelings of betrayal and jealousy, therefore the green (as for jealousy being named the green monster). Strong emotions can lead us into very dark places. But I believe these moments deserve to be honored as well, as a way to remind ourselves that we are learning, developing and, more important, becoming more resilient'.
