Big girl under a palm tree

Sometimes we carry our insecurities deep inside us our entire lives. You can be peacefully sunbathing under a palm tree in Ibiza, taking selfies for your Instagram, and still silently battling the same insecurities you had when you turned 15. One of my biggest insecurities is seeing myself as a very large woman compared to the rest of the girls in the world. Stupid, right? Well, sometimes I realize I still carry that feeling with me, but thankfully today I can look at myself from a different perspective and feel compassion for that 15-year-old girl. 

This original painting on canvas is part of my collection Tropical Reflections, where I seek to represent the beauty of becoming resilient as women, specially after all the expectations that society, culture and even family set on our shoulders since we are little creatures.
